HOW FLOORING CAN HELP SELL YOUR HOME

Welcome to Florida! Along with a tropical climate comes tropical pets...huh, pests! Some of the creatures you may find here that are not in your home state, are: lizards (harmless - you'll think they're cute after a while), palmetto bugs (they look like giant roaches, live in tops of palm trees, but are basically harmless - we don't think they're cute), alligators (they'll usually run when you approach, but don't bet on it. Keep small dogs and children away from the banks of lakes and rivers as that is where the large ones live), and last but not least, TERMITES!  They are everywhere in the ground. Some people say if you don't have them now, you will.  I've lived in Tampa my whole life and not everyone I have known has had termites, so I don't necessarily agree. I do suggest you have a yearly termite inspection, keep all wood and landscaping away from the exterior walls of your home and have proper drainage of water flowing away from the home, not puddling near the walls (this also will cause settlement of the structure).  Keeping moisture away will help keep termites at bay! Following are some links to help educate you on termites. And, please don't let this scare you away from moving to Florida. It's great here as you will see from visiting the other links in the following sections. We have fun year-round in Florida!

MIAMI, May 22 ? Hawaii's Kaanapali Beach topped this year's list of ''America's Best Beaches,'' released Friday by a coastal scientist who lauded its white coral sand and clear emerald-green waters.
The 3-mile beach on the dry and sunny side of Maui earned the No. 1 spot on the annual list compiled by Dr. Stephen Leatherman, director of Florida International University's Laboratory for Coastal Research.
Leatherman, nicknamed ''Dr. Beach,'' has taken on the enviable task of visiting beaches nationwide and ranking them on 50 criteria that include sand and water quality, water temperature, absence of litter and balance between nature and man-made amenities.
Kaanapali is one of four Hawaiian beaches to make the top 10, and the seventh Hawaiian beach to win top honors in the past eight years.
Rounding out this year's list are No 2. Florida's Fort DeSoto Park; 3. North Carolina's Ocracoke Island; 4. Hawaii's Hanalei Bay;     5. Florida's Caladesi Island State Park; 6. New York's Main Beach in East Hampton; 7. Hawaii's Makalawena Beach; 8. Hawaii's Hanauma Bay; 9. Florida's Cape Florida State Park and 10. Cape Hatteras in North Carolina.
Leatherman, who holds a doctorate in environmental sciences, released the rankings for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, which traditionally kicks off the U.S. summer beach season.
****Both of these great beaches are located in Pinellas County ~ Ft. Desoto Beach is at the southern tip of St. Petersburg and Caladesi Island is reached by ferry from Honeymoon Island in Dunedin. Another beach I love is Fred Howard Beach near Tarpon Springs.
